We are nearly there…
Finally I’ve gotten around to the blog post. I’ve been buried under a pile of bugs, emails, forms, css, web design, payment integration, Unity publishing, scanning, sculpting, painting, texturing, lod creation, sounds, admin, more bugs oh and did I say bugs?
We’re near to launch, possibly tomorrow night if all goes to plan. We just have a few fixes to do on the website. We will be hosting everything ourselves using some pretty hefty servers (AWS) so hopefully they will hold up. If we get any visits that is!
What to expect
We plan to publish 3 types of products:
AVR – DK2. Skin shading, 5 scan packs, sophisticated lighting and shadowing, breathing animations. LEAP integration, skin physics, skin deformation and manipulation (suitable for high end PC’s)
BVR – DK2. Basic shading, 10 scan packs (suitable for low end PC’s)
MVR – GearVR. Basic shading, 10 scan packs (suitable for Note4)
We might also be supporting mono (single camera) products for various devices but this needs to be investigated further.
AVR
The AVR products are a way off yet, we are still working on some complex skin physics and LEAP hand interaction, getting 75fps on that will be hard but we are seeing some pretty sweet results that I hope to share soon.
BVR
Some early ‘basic’ BVR products are ready. They are nothing mind blowing. I’m sure haters will hate but we have to start some where and we need to launch now.
No animations for the time being, we’ve created them, they look awesome but there are some technical issues hitting 75fps with 10 or more scans on screen at once, so we need to work that out. The products have been optimized with an LOD system. So without animations with 10 scans on screen at once we are getting 250fps with VSync off and 75fps consistently with VSync on, which is very important. We don’t want to break the mood!
People have been so patient with us and the feedback as been incredible. So I hope some people will enjoy the early releases. But please be aware, the early products will be SUPER simple but will get better over time.
We will have a version system in place for each product starting at 1.0. We will update them for free, with bug fixes and some possible extra tweaks and additions. You will see a notification in product if there is an update available.
There will be 5 products ready to purchase, 5 different models. I would say check out the new website first, get familiar with the brand but wait until we release a demo later on that evening to try. If you like what you see, then you could support us ๐
The more products we sell the higher the chance that we will survive, maybe flourish and develop further. I’m literally out of money now, I’ve spent a ton on developing the technology (taken over 5 years to do, which has now become an industry standard) and building the infrastructure and legal issues with going adult, it comes with a stigma and is an expensive path to go down. Also VR really isn’t easy to develop for.
MVR
The MVR (GearVR) products? Well, you will have to talk to Oculus about that. We cannot easily distribute GearVR products because of their closed wall system. You cannot side load easily. But they are here, fun to play and ready to publish. I can play them on my GearVR but getting them out to others to install wont be easy.
So just a quick update, more to come tomorrow. Even if we are late to publish I will post some more details and images tomorrow.
Thanks for your patience. I hope you will enjoy what we have to offer.
EDIT:
Also. We are going to have a ton of website bugs and payment issues I’m certain of it, there will be a lot of teething problems so please bare with us ๐
V
My wallet is itchy! My money wants to get out of it!
We hope we can help you look after if, even if it’s just a little! Thanks for your support ๐
is there a reason you are hiding who the models are? Maybe you can show one every few hours until launch? it would make me hit reload more often….
Great idea.
Thanks looking forward to seeing more of them appear ๐ So far you have me for 1 out of 1 that i will purchase…lets make it 5 out of 5 ๐
ok 2 out of 2 ๐
3 out of 3 ๐
What sort of price range should we expect?
Between ยฃ5 (BVR) – ยฃ10 (AVR) If we get good support and interest grows, we will be able to reduces these prices by half, maybe further. That will only be possible though if VR is also able to scale upwards in numbers.
This is exciting. I hope things go as planned and you get this out asap. ๐
Nearly there. Thanks for commenting.
Fantastic! Great to see you guys nearing the finish line. Your previous demos were great. It will be good to have a chance to financially support you.
Thank you kindly, I hope they wont disappoint.
Well met! Amazing update!
I think we are all sitting here tissues in hand…I mean cash in hand…
Very much looking forward to a “rough” product (by Veiviev’s standards) that blows everything else out of the water and once again raises the bar for industry standards (beyond the adult industry)! Woot Woot! Whether it comes out tomorrow or not, I’m super stoked!
Thanks V!
DingDong, thank you ๐
Hurry! We want give your our money!)
๐ I hope you will enjoy them as much as we enjoy creating them.
Nice! Can’t wat… to check it out ๐
Thanks!
That’s incredible news, I’ve been checking this web page every morning and evening for the past 2 weeks !
I know your work through scan purchases on Triplegangers and I KNOW this launch will be amazing.
Keep up the hard work, you will be rewarded for that !
What is your reference PC build for hitting 75fps?
VR device: Oculus Rift DK2 OVR 0.4.4
CPU: Intel Core i5-2400S @ 2.5 GHz or AMD FX-8350 @ 4.0 GHz or better
RAM: 8 Gb
OS: Windows 7 SP1, Windows 8/8.1 (64bit versions only)
Video Card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680 or AMD Radeon R9 290X or better (2GB VRAM)
Free Disk Space: 1 Gb
This may change, the products have been optimized for lower but we are being cautious.
Sounds good!
Looking forward to it.
When reading what you have to do .. sounds like you could really use some help ๐
We need support through purchases ๐ That will help us, we have a lot of help from some great developers (always on the look out for more of course) but money talks and this will help us move forwards and improve further.
Hi…
what’s the Price range ?
On release they will be ยฃ5 for BVR and ยฃ10 for AVR. These will come down over time if we are able to scale and there is good interest. We will also have a deposit system, so people can buy credits and store them for future use, negating the need to use the payment system each time. As a bonus (kind of like buy one get one free) BVR’s will earn you 2 credits and AVR’s 3 credits, like a points system. If you buy 1x BVR you will earn 2 credits. Effectively 2 credits of your next BVR, so the next BVR will cost ยฃ3 instead of ยฃ5. We will be testing out some things to start with.
Really cant wait, thank you so much for continuing all your hard work.
Thanks!
Thanks for your great work! Following the project since the beginning! That’s a big step you are about to do! Kepp up the good work.
PS: I’m so ready for it
Thank you.
Really looking forward to the release guys! ๐
Re the animations, can we not just have the animations anyway and just accept they will hopefully improve?
Cheers,
The animations don’t need improving it’s the hardware, even just a single frame stutter from 75fps to 71fps as the animations load, for a split second, it can cause horrible nausea.
Cool. I’m quite interested in seeing the store site design. It would be neat if we had a “purchases” page that would list the model packs we’ve purchased and would have a red “!” on the pic if there is a free update to that model pack available.
If we buy multiple packs, can they be viewed in in the same environment or will we have to launch individual environments for each pack?
Some great ideas. We don’t have this functionality yet but we can surely integrate it over the coming weeks. To start with they will be individual .exe’s separate from each other. If we are able to scale up, we will be able to release purely the pack models themselves to be loaded into any environment that you have already purchased. We are developing interiors BTW. But that will take time and money to develop.
This day is so long ^^ Good luck and thank you for the hard work !
Great news! Thanks for taking the time to post an update. =)
Thanks!
Dumb question, what does BVR, AVR, and MVR stand for, and the difference?
Explained in this post https://www.veiviev.com/2015-launch-gearvr-leap-and-more/
Will there be an upgrade option from BVR to AVR when AVR is made available? I’d like to buy all the stuff that’s available when it is, but it’d feel kind of silly to have to buy things twice once the AVR’s are released.
Also i think you might want to rethink the BVR AVR etc branding. It comes across as a bit confusing imo. Why not just spell it out rather than force people to go to a FAQ page to learn what the difference is? “Basic”, “Advanced”, “Mobile”.
No there wont be an upgrade because they are different products. You wont be buying something twice because each product offers a different experience. We’re very happy with the quick simple naming convention, if others struggle also we can look into changing it (possibly) They are also colour coded for simplicity. There will be a FAQ to help with any queries. We’re trying to define something new here so it will take so time to get used to.
Ah ok. I assumed from the description of the different types that it would be the same content, just with varying degrees of fidelity/interactivity, AVR being the upgraded version of the same BVR scans for those who has a pc that can handle it/willing to pay the higher price.
Anyway as I said, I am going to buy everything you have available when the store opens. ๐ I’ve been waiting for this since i first downloaded the 3d scan girl ages ago.
Many thanks. They will be basic to start with, we need to launch now but we intend to refine and improve over time. Maybe even adding LEAP hands (with collision) to the BVR’s if we can.
Will AVR and/or BVR support DK1 ?
Not on launch, if there is a big enough demand (even though the DK1 is redundant) perhaps.
Will I be able to play this from my couch like a regular videogame? or does the Occulus need to be on my face every time? I think the top end product should have this feature.
There is a bug in the Oculus SDK that does not allow this. To view in single camera mode you will need to uninstall the Oculus drivers.
“The animations donโt need improving itโs the hardware, even just a single frame stutter from 75fps to 71fps as the animations load, for a split second, it can cause horrible nausea.”
Do you still get these issues on high end PC’s – I’m sure a lot of people running DK2’s will have some pretty beefy kit (i7, GTX 980′ etc)
Yes we do. It seems to be an issue with how Unity stores the animations in memory, we get a drop in frame rate when it plays them back in close proximity. We are looking at ways to optimize the animations themselves.
Great work getting to this point, guys! I’m hoping the money starts to pour in for you and with consumer VR only a few short months away it seems likely! When you say basic shaders on the BVR models will they still be a substantial improvement over that hacked together thing some guy uploaded for DK2 a few months back? Also, will each product essentially be a pack of various poses from a given model (by model I mean person, not 3D model). Thanks, and again, great work!
Thank you, I think it will be a long time before we see any decent sales, it’s a niche market and also not many people are used to parting with money for adult entertainment post 2005. We are in it for the long road. Yes the BVR’s will be similar to the Lucid Dreams demo we posted a while back. Simple shader, static scans of nude female models, in various poses and states of undress.
Hi, I think you’re missing an entire product category. I enjoyed the demos you released for DK/2 and am personally much more interested in static high resolution photo-quality 3D models. I’m very doubtful that the uncanny valley effect can be overcome so early in the game for animated models, whereas a photo of a pretty girl is a photo of a pretty girl.
The product I want is essentially photo galleries in a 3D virtual space, which seems like a set of assets you could start monetising immediately without huge development and research effort.
Or maybe I’ve mis-interpreted your descriptions of the products to date – is that what your “B” product really is?
Yes I think that’s what you’re after.
If you want to see naked women in 3D, in VR that’s what the BVR’s provide. They will be basic, flat lighting, fairly realistic, frozen in time. I hope you will enjoy them ๐
Will the BVRs be the same level of detail as the original dk1 demo or better? I think the orginal looked pretty good in the dk2 despite a lack of tracking. So i am personally hoping for that with maybe a tiny bit better quality for the higher res screen.
Yes it will be of similar quality. You can also check out the site (once it goes live) see what you like but then maybe wait for the DK2 BVR demo, try that out, if you like then you’re welcome to purchase ๐
Hi
Great to see your nearly there, i’ve been waiting a year now hehe
Can u just confirm for me though, will they actually work on dk1 or just dk2, i’m currently waiting on my dk2 as i’ve just beefed up my pc!!, cheers, Good luck.
Thanks for your following. I cannot confirm if they will work with the DK1 I doubt it. They can be used in single camera mode though, if all Oculus drivers are uninstalled. We will look into possible DK1 support but I doubt it as it’s no redundant.
cheers, it’s alright no worries, i’ll be getting a dk2 anyway but just thought i’d try em on my dk1 while i’m waiting
OK ๐
Can you confirm if you will be able to change the scale (size) like you could in the dk1 demo?
Oh yes, it’s my favourite feature, don’t know why!! But it’s very cool.
So, the censored models, are they models who pulled out of an agreement with you guys?
If so, can you tell me if you will still be releasing the model named “Kaiai”?
She’s the one I’m most interested in seeing. If you can’t say, no worries…
Not sure what you mean, no issues with agreements. Kayla is one of the models if that’s who you mean? If not what does she look like?
I was confused by the blurring of the photo thing. But as others have pointed out it was a slow unveiling kind of thing. And, now that she’s un-blurred, I see the model I asked about is there.
Well, thanks for responding during what must be a very busy time.
How many poses will these packages come with?
2 was adequate, but a few more would be very welcome.
Also, will there be any future support for non-VR stereoscopic? Such as Nvidia 3dvision?
I’ve been enjoying the demo via 3dvision and it works GREAT! But the depth seems slightly over-sensitive and hard to calibrate just right for this viewing method.
Np. Each BVR will come with 10 or more poses. You can view in single view mode if you uninstall the Oculus driver. We might look into other viewing modes in the future. The scans are best viewed in VR, they wont look as good single view.
Please consider an option to have just 1 model visible at a time, for performance sake, even in a pack of 10.
We can’t definitely do that, I will think about it for Ver 2.0.
What do you think of the new Vive advances, and Oculus’ positional audio?
It’s going to be incredible. How developers are going to be able to develop for HTC Vive before they launch though I don’t know? How can we predict how to account for the 15×15 volume without being able to test. It will be incredible though to walk around a whole room unencumbered. Bed poses, laying, on a beach, in an apartment, you name it.
I know, right? Supposedly they will be releasing a developer’s kit in a couple months, followed by a consumer release in November.
Using the picture unblurring itself as a countdown is fittingly similar to downloading jpeg images on a 28.8 modem in the 90s.
Ha good call. Good times.

Is the DK2 demo out yet? Where can I download it?
It will be out later today.
Ok, call me the biggest idiot of all. I’ve followed this forever and now it’s finally out. I can’t for the life of me figure out where to purchase.
Where is the link? I know I’m missing something terribly obvious but I can’t find it.
No problem. Visit vrgirlz.com, register (confirm email) and look at the products page. You should be able to add to cart and purchase from there.
Where do I get the DK2 demo???
It’s on its way soon!
Are 3rd party GearVR apps allowed to read files from SD card?
If so, that walled-garden-no-NSFW-content issue on Oculus Store could be solved by just releasing a single free “3D scene viewer” app and then selling scenes/models instead of binaries. Oculus wouldn’t even get a cut.
You can’t do that because each product has to be assigned the unique ID of the Note4 to the application before it can be run on the GearVR. It’s possible to do but complex for the user. More info here – https://forums.oculus.com/viewtopic.php?t=18616 Samsung and Oculus locked the GearVR up well!!
